VALEDICTORY DAY CELEBRATION OF 550th BIRTHDAY OF SHRI GURU NANAK DEV JI
The birthday of Guru Nanak Dev ji, the first of the ten Sikh gurus and the founder of Sikhism, is observed as ‘Guru Nanak Gurpurab’ across the globe. This year, it falls on November 12.
Shivalik Public School, Patiala celebrated 550th birthday of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji for a week to mark the occasion which ended up on 16th November’ 2019. The students came dressed in traditional Sikh attire and the assembly commenced with a prayer. The ‘Ek Onkar’ prayer was chanted by the students in reverence and homage. During the celebration, various holy activities were organised like amplification and explanation of holy scriptures of sikhs "Mool Mantra". Life history of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji and Sakhi was explained by Punjabi teachers Ms.Sandeep Kaur and Ms.Baljeet Kaur. Students of class 1 to 5 recited poems and shabad ‘Sikh Guru Ka’ and students of classes VI to X sang a group song on ‘Bani Bana Te Nankana Bool Gaye Sikhanoo and also enacted on an action song on ‘Guruji’s Ardaas’. Students of class II sang shabad on ‘Guru Nanak Dev Ji’. Class XII students sang a Kavishri on the friendship of Guruji & Mardana.
Classes IX and X presented a Shabad on ‘Ek Baba Akal Guru’. Several in the audience could be seen tapping the floor in enjoyment too!
On this occasion, Ms. Bhupinder kaur Bhamra, the Principal of the school delivered a soothing and inspiring speech and blessed all the students and the teachers present over there.
