EARTH DAY CELEBRATIONS IN SHIVALIK PUBLIC SCHOOL, PATIALA

Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on 22nd April at Shivalik Public School, Patiala to remind the students of their duties towards ‘Mother Nature.’ As a part of environmental education, Earth Day was celebrated through educational and action-oriented activities that were fun.

A myriad of activities were conducted in the classes. Hand printing activity was conducted for Pre-primary students (Block A). Students of classes I and II made paper cut-outs of hands saving the earth.

Special Assembly was conducted in the school premises and students took the oath on Earth Day to protect the earth from pollution and abuse. At first, a skit on ‘Conservation of the Earth’ was shown by the students of classes +1 and +2. The students of classes IX also showcased their talent by presenting a play on ‘Earth Day’. Thereafter, the students of classes VI to VIII took part in Mime on ‘Pollution’. This was followed by a skit on ‘Save Earth’ which was presented by the students of Classes III, IV and V. Banners and colourful charts were put up, reading "Go Green” and "Plant a tree today. Children learnt the importance of preserving the planet earth.

At the end, Principal, Bhupinder Kaur Bhamra added the finishing touch by addressing the students emphasizing the importance of 3 R’s, afforestation, planting of trees, save soil and the need for everyone to put together their efforts and get into action, in protecting our environment.
