Shivalik Public School, Mohali has been ranked as number 1st in Mohali

The magazine Education World rated and ranked India’s most high- profile schools in its September issue. It is heartening to declare that Shivalik Public School, Mohali has been ranked as number 1st in Mohali, 11th in Punjab and 88th in the country by the magazine. In addition, Shivalik Public School, Mohali has got 6th position as an active participant in co-curricular activities and 10th in its infrastructure provision at the national level.

The magazine ‘Education World’ conducted the school survey. A carefully constituted team of 2,026 respondents  comprising of parents, principals, teachers and educationists judged around 2.0 lakh schools on the reasoning that there is more to education than academic or scholastic excellence. These respondents across the country were asked to rate schools on 12 parameters- academic reputation,co-curricular education, sports education, faculty competence, individual attention to students, value for money, leadership/management quality, parental involvement, infrastructure provision, quality of alumni, integrity/honesty and transparency in admissions.

Established in 1970, Shivalik Public School, Mohali, a premier institution has transformed into a vibrantand vigorous school under the phenomenal leadership of the Director of the school, Mr.D.S.Bedi. The school’s motto “Victory With Determination” has once again proved true to itself.

JANAMASHTAMI CELEBRATION
Janamashtami celebration was held at Shivalik School, Mohali by the students of Classes I to IV. Students came dressed in colourful attires representing different depictions of Lord Krishna was a pleasurable site. Some students also sang bhajans on the occasion. ‘Kanha churri bechney aya’ by Master Vaibhav was applauded by all. Mesmerizing dance performances by little children were also wonderful.

INTER- SECTION  SKIT COMPETITION

Shivalik Public School, Phase 6, Mohali organized an inter-section skit competition on 5th August,2014 for classes V and VI in Punjabi and English languages respectively. In accordance with the evaluation  pattern decided by CCE it had been an Initiative taken

by the School authorities to give an opportunity  to all the students of each section from both the classes, to display their skills and acting challenge on  stage. Out of all the sections of class V, Class V A was announced as the winner of the competition. In class VI, class VI A was taken out an winner. In order to motivate the students and give a recognition  to their budding talent, few individuals categories were also taken into consideration. In class V, the students who outshine the rest included Tanveer and Rihamdeep (best actor), Vanshdeep and Kajol  (dialouge), divyajot (Costume).

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

It was India’s 68 Independence day with satiating joviality and zeal. The school campus was beautifully decorated with vibrant streamers and balloons.At the very onset Director Mr.D.S.Bedi, hoisted the tri colour amidst strains of National Anthem and took ceremonial salute at the March past by the immaculately dressed senior students in the school playground.After the parade, the focus shifted to the school auditorium in which the students and teaching faculty presented a colorful cultural bon

anza which enthralled and imbibed the audience with the spirit of patriotism. This colourfulaccolade consisting of  speeches,group  songs, poems, dances and skits were presented with great passion recalling the days of struggle for independence and sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. The tiny tots presented saga of freedom in which kids pledged to be loyal to their motherland.Harsiratkaur and Prachi of class IIm recited patriotic poems.English plays were showcased  depictingthe  importance of the day were wellenacted.An impressive  power point presentation depicting the history of Indian flag.Patriotic group songs were presented.

Director Principal Mr.D.S. Bedi commend  the

combined efforts of the students and teachers for presenting the wonderful show and emphasized the need of maintaining peace and communal harmony in the nation.The school NCC contingent  and BHANGRA was adjudged as the best in the parade district level function held at Government College,Phase -6 Mohali.

The function which was a huge success ended with the singing of National Anthem and   distribution of sweets and students

S-CHAND TEACHER TRAINING

Shivalik Public School, Mohali strives its best to abreast its staff to pace with the changing

SHIVALIK EMPOWERS  ITS TEACHERS WITH TECHNOLOGY

Keeping in touch with the latest IMG_2544updates in the field of teaching has emerged as the success mantra of the students’ performances. To do so Shivalik Public School, mohali took an initiative  to empower the Shivalik teachers of all the four branches located in Patiala, Nawanshahar, Chandigarh and Mohali organized six days’  workshop for them. It started on 19 May 2014 and concluded with the motivational presentation the Ex-Director, CBSE, New Delhi, Mr.  G. Balasubramanian  on 24 May 2014. He gave an enlightening and mind stirring lecture on the effective teaching methodology and the four pillars of classroom teaching, i.e curiosity, novelty, attention and motivation. He also stressed on how to frame a balanced question paper based on blooms taxonomy. Many other resource persons from many publication houses also contributed to this fruitful workshop. To name a few:  S.Chand, Educomp, Oxford university Press, Macmillian Publication. They  apprised the teachers with the important aspects of latest trends in education as how to  improve their teaching methodologies , making the best out of the modern technology etc..During these six days the teachers participated in many activities, shared their views, and also updated themselves.   Overall it had been a lively session  for  the staff.

FANCY DRESS COMPETITION

Fancy dress competition for classes I to V  was held in Shivalik Public School Phase 6 Mohali.Tiny tots showcased  their talent through various performances. Few students came into traditional guises of Radha, Krishna and Fairy,  few came in  dresses representing political parties and few displayed jest of nature.IMG_9582

Main attraction of the competition was save girl child and old man. All participant participated enthusiastically. Vanshika Mehra of class III as a  ‘save girl child’ was declared the overall winner and Navkaran Singh as  Mr. Kejriwal won first prize. In class IV Antam Gill again as a ‘save girl child’ was declared the overall winner and Balpreet Singh as  ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh’ won first prize. In class I Simran Sembi, Harshpartap singh, Gurbaaz Singh, Kabir Singh, Ritika stood first. In class II Harsirat Kaur, Tamanna Mann, Kiratjot Kaur,  Jiya stood first.Tanveer of class V was declared overall winner and Manmeet won first prize.

The school principal Ms. Anup Kiran Kaur congratulated each participant and appreciated efforts of teachers. She said it is a pleasant but challenging experience to bring up children and role of parents should be truly appreciated. Not only do they perform their job beautifully, they also build up the confidence of their children so they able to perform without any hesitation.

 

New Student Representatives Take Oath Of Office

 A solemn impressive function marked the Investiture ceremony of the Shivalik Public School ,Mohali . The  newly appointed  class representatives from class I to X were sworn in by the honourable director of the school, Mr.  D S Bedi .   Badges were given to the new student leaders. The IMG_2415new appointees promised to carry out their duties diligently.

Mr Bedi in his address congratulated the class representatives and  emphasised that for a leader authority, responsibility and accountability all go hand in hand. Teachers play a significant role in building the attributes of leadership in students. The respected Principal of the school, Ms Bedi, Ms. Anupkiran also graced the occasion with their presence.

 Impressive show put up by the Eco Club of Shivalik

Shivalik Public School students presented an impressive show for creating awareness on the environment . The programme was organized by the members i.e. students and teachers of the Eco-club of the school. It consisted of poems, a skit and power point presentations. The students emphasized on different environmental issues, made the audience aware of air, water and land pollution and take measures to check pollution. The students participated whole heartedly with zeal and enthusiasm. The Principal , Mrs. Anupkiran Kaur guided the students to take pledge to save Mother Earth. The Director, Mr. D.S.Bedi addressed on the occasion and urged the students to contribute their best in spreading awareness, in keeping their surrounding neat and clean and green. He motivated them to use eco-friendly objects and to help in reusing and recycling of things. The students got inspired  by the programme and took pledge to do their best to save their mother earth.

World Book Day

 Shivalikians  celebrated World Book Day to commemorate  the birth anniversary of the greatest dramatist and poet of English Literature , William IMG_2069Shakespeare. Various activities were conducted  in the library and in the class rooms i.e. Exhibition of books, book-mark and book- covers making competition, book-hunting and reading and writing “Reviews  of Book”. A power point presentation was also shown to the students on the World Book Day. Earth Day Celebrations at Shivalik Public School, Mohali

Earth  Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by classes I to IV of Shivalik Public School Mohali. Seed Germination activity was conducted  for all students. A special assembly was also organized for  the same. The event was given the title ” Save trees ,Save earth”. Students recited poems related to “Mother Earth”, “Trees “, and “Environment”. Small skits were also staged to highlight the demand of the time i.e. ” Grow more trees and save the environment”. A  PPT  throwing  light  on the importance of  ” Earth Day ” was also shown. At the end the Principal of the school appreciated the efforts of the staff and the students.

MEDICAL AND HEALTH SERVICES:

A thorough medical check up is conducted for all the students and a proper record is maintained. Keeping in view the oral hygiene of the students, a dental clinic has also been setup.

ART & CRAFT:

To enhance creativity of the students, Art and Craft section plays an important role. Students are taught the art of painting including emboss, nib, oil and glass painting. Students are also taught to develop their skills by way of making origami, thumb painting, coin painting, mask making, pattern making etc.

Our students take part in various competitions held at inter-school and national level. The best exhibits are displayed in various exhibitions held in and outside the city.

LIBRARY:

The school has a well-stocked computerised Library consisting of about 12,000 volumes including 40 sets of Encyclopedias, under the charge of qualified librariansimage. Good number of periodicals and newspapers are also subscribed to keep students abreast with latest happenings. It has an open shelf system so as to allow students free access to the books. There is a junior library for the middle and primary classes. Students are constantly encouraged to develop good reading habits.

INSET PROGRAMME:

In-service teacher IMG_2544training is a regular feature. Workshops and seminars are organized to keep the members of the teaching faculty abreast with latest innovations in the field of education. This enables the teachers not only to disseminate new information to the students but also incorporate the latest methodologies to enhance the process of teaching and learning.

N.C.C:

nccTrue to its motto, ‘Unity and Discipline’, National Cadet Corps (NCC) is offered to the students in the secondary classes. In 1984, Junior Division (JD) for boys and in 1986, Junior Wing (JW) for girls was allotted to the institution. NCC cadets regularly attend National Integration Camps, Basic Leadership Camps (BLC) and Hiking and Trekking Camps held at the state and national level, during the academic session. Our NCC Cadets have been selected to attend Republic Day Camp at New Delhi and they have also been keenly participating in the Prime Minister’s Rally held annually.

N.S.S:

The Youth Services Department, Punjab has sanctioned N.S.S. Unit of 100 volunteers to the school. Various N.S.S. Camps are organized in our school in which volunteers from different schools and colleges participate. Our N.S.S. volunteers also go for Hiking and Trekking Camps to Manali (H.P.) and other places organized by the Youth Services Department.

Transport

Bus transport is provided on request to students residing in Chandigarh only. The bus fare is charged for a period of 11 months. A student availing the transport facility cannot withdraw voluntarily during the session. Withdrawal may be allowed only in those cases where the parents of the student have been transferred or have shifted their residence to a nearby sector…
