Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh established in 1970, is an english medium and co-educational institution. It is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, under 10+2 pattern. It is housed in one of the most modern buildings on the pattern of International Public School on its own land measuring 30,000 square yards. Valedictory function  2014-15

IMG_3135-newClass XII students were given a memorable farewell at Shivalik Public School 41, Chandigarh. The outgoing batch of class XII were deeply touched by the warmth extended to them by their teachers and the wonderful programme put up by their juniors. The students showcased their talent and various dances and games were organized. Mr. and Ms. Shivalik contest was held and class XII students got an opportunity to present themselves and even face the question round. Mehak won the title of Ms. Shivalik and Pratishma Bansal was chosen Mr. Shivalik. Other titles were announced which included Ms. Elegance, Ms.Charming, Ms. Beautiful smile and Mr. & Ms. Punctual. This was followed by thanks giving by the head boy and head girl of the school. Mr. D.S.Bedi, Director gave his best wishes and motivated the students to face challenges with grit and determination. Students were given mementoes and the function concluded with a grand lunch.

 

 

42nd  State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment ExhibitionIMG_2788-new 

At the 42nd  State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children – 2014-15 at SCERT, Sector 32, Chandigarh, Six exhibits of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh were displayed under the different subthemes.

Three projects Under subtheme – Transport, Information and communication & Landmarks in Science and Mathematics secured third rank at Senior Level. Students for each subtheme were awarded a rank certificate and a cash prize of Rs.2100.

The 66th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh.  The celebrations commenced with the marchpast by the students and the hoisting of the tricolor by the Principal Ms. Gurkiranjeet Nalwa. She urged the students to fulfill their duties towards the nation and motivated them to aspire for greater heights of success. This was followed by a colourful extravaganza of patriotic poems, speeches, songs, dances and powerpoint presentations to showcase the inherent talent of the students.

  The senior wing of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh celebrated its Annual Prize Distribution and Cultural Programme on 6thDecember, 2014 in the School Auditorium at Shivalik Public School, Mohali.

The event opened with the Lamp Lighting ceremony by Mr. D.S. Bedi, the Director of the school.

The programme, ‘Rangotsav’ was an amalgamation of various hues and the students spread the colours of peace and happiness. Throughout the show the students resplendent in various costumes enraptured the audience with their message driven cultural programme. The beginning of the auspicious occasion was marked by the invocation of the heavenly muses in the Vandana dance.. Mrs. Gurkiranjeet Nalwa, the Principal presented the Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the school and goals set up for the future. The beautiful rendition of the English song ‘Castle on Glass’ was spell binding. Rabindra Nritya , a Bengali dance based on Rabindra Sangeet mesmerized the guests.  Dance Mania, a western dance  added colour to the festive occasion and the synchronized dance movements to the foot tapping music enthralled the audience. The traditional Dandiya dance and Kalbeliya ,a folk dance of Rajasthan reflected the diverse hues of India. Bhangra marked a befitting finale to the colourful programme.

Mr. D.S. Bedi, Director of the school gave away the prizes to the meritorious students both for their scholastic and co-scholastic achievements.  Akash Singh , the school topper of Non-medical stream with 96.6% ,Ridham of the Medical sream with 95.6% and Supreet Kaur ,who topped the Commerce stream  were awarded cash prize. The students with a CGPA of perfect 10 were also awarded cash prizes. Himanshu Gupta was given the Young Einstein Award for his outstanding achievements in the field of Science.He has also been awarded a cash prize of one lakh for scoring All India rank 2 in Tallentex(main)conducted on 16 th November 2014 . The Director Mr. D.S.Bedi congratulated the students and applauded their efforts. He  also appreciated the staff for their contribution.

Science Congress Project

They have been selected to present their Project on “ Reduction in Carbon footprint by waste management farm “ at National Level to be held at Bengaluru .

NSS Camp (1st November, 2014 to 7th November 2014)

A camp was conducted by the NSS Volunteers of Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh from 1st November, 2014 to

7th November 2014. The theme of the camp was “Personal health and hygiene”. The adopted village was Buterela. Different activities were conducted during the camp. Cleanliness drive and door to door visit in the village was taken up the prime activity. Fruitful visit to the Institute of blind, Bhram Kumari Museum, Farmhouse and village Gurudwara, made the campers learnt dedication, hardwork, confidence, cooperation and importance of meditation.

 

Independence Day Celebration

The 68th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and boundless enthusiasm in Shivalik Public school, Chandigarh. The National Tricolor was hoisted and the parade inspected by Honourable Director Mr. D.S.Bedi.  He congratulated the staff and students on this auspicious occasion and motivated them to march ahead with the changing times and strive relentlessly towards their goal. This was followed by a colourful extravaganza of patriotic speeches, poems and songs in different languages to brighten the mood of everyone present.

The second round was held on 31st July at Tagore Theater, where more than 24 participants were present and out which Chayanika was selected third.

Exceptional Achievement

Himanshu Gupta of class XI-A of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-A, Chandigarh has cleared the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad 2014 Exam held on February, 02, 2014. He is one among the thirty students who qualified in this exam all over India.

He is to attend a four week long camp called International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) which will be held at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mankhurd, Mumbai, from April, 21st to May 19th, 2014. During the camp, various techniques of solving mathematical problems by experts from all over India will be taught.

 

NSS Volunteers won the best contingent prize

NSS volunteer’s contingent of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh secured first position in Republic Day parade held at sector-17, Parade Ground. Contingent of 27 students was lead by the Commander Divy Gupta. All students performed enthusiastically and were elated on their achievement. Principal, Ms. Gurkiranjeet Nalwa, also congratulated students’ team work. Efforts of Mr.Rajnish, Physical Education teacher, and Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, NSS Programme Officer, were also appreciated by the principal.

Annual State Level Science, Environment and Mathematics Exihibition

Ishleen and Ridham of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh brought laurels by winning the first prize in Annual State Level Science, Environment and Mathematics Exihibition for children, organized by State Institute of Education, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The girls were awarded with certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 5100/-. Clearing the two rounds, the girls dou will now represent the state in the final round to be held in New Delhi on 16,17 and 18 December, 2013.

The theme of this exhibition given by NCERT was ‘Scientific and Mathematical Innovation.’ The girls under the guidance of their teacher Ms.Anuradha prepared a model on ‘Organic Farming’. In their model they exhibited the improvement in the income by rearing multiple animals on the same farm. They also emphasized on use of cow’s urine as the pesticide when it is treated with Neem leaves. The principal of the school said that the girls had really worked hard and are looking forward for the next round in New Delhi.

SPELL BEE COMPETITION

Ishleen and Ridham, +2 students of Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh brought laurels to the school by winning the final round of Spell Bee organized by Times of India in collaboration with Rayat and Bahra Group of Institutes, Mohali at Tagore Theater on 28th Nov., 2013.

Around 7,500 students participated in the preliminaries and over 800 students were selected for the final round of the competition. Spellings, vocabulary and command over English language of the students of the Tricity were tested. Showing their superiority over the language, the participants took crossword test and spelling assessment to reach to the final round of the competition. Ishleen stood first and won the cash prize of Rs.7100 and Ridham bagged third position with a cash prize of Rs.3100. According to the star of the event, Ishleen, “The competition was a good exercise of the mind.”

To make the activity enjoyable, students recited poems, gave talks on the benefits of fruits. A speech on importance of fruits in our life was also given by the doctor. Principal Mrs.Gurkiranjeet Nalwa appreciated the efforts of students and teachers by highlighting the nutritional value of fruits.

“Mr. Vikram Rana” hosted NSS special camp held at Shivalik Public School, 41-B, Chandigarh. The main motto behind is to promote the personality development as well as to promote the health education in remote areas.This was followed by an educational visit to Anandpur Sahib, Virasat-e-Khalsa an old age home and an orphanage. A documentary was also prepared by the NSS volunteers highlighting the glimpses of the activities. Prizes were also distributed in order to participate actively for such social causes.

Exceptional Achievement

Himanshu Gupta of class XI-A of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-A, Chandigarh has cleared the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad 2014 Exam held on February, 02, 2014. He is one among the thirty students who qualified in this exam all over India.

He is to attend a four week long camp called International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) which will be held at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mankhurd, Mumbai, from April, 21st to May 19th, 2014. During the camp, various techniques of solving mathematical problems by experts from all over India will be taught.
