Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh established in 1970, is an english medium and co-educational institution. It is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, under 10+2 pattern. It is housed in one of the most modern buildings on the pattern of International Public School on its own land measuring 30,000 square yards. The 68th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and boundless enthusiasm in Shivalik Public school, Chandigarh. The National Tricolor was hoisted and the parade inspected by Honourable Director Mr. D.S.Bedi.  He congratulated the staff and students on this auspicious occasion and motivat

ed them to march ahead with the changing times and strive relentlessly towards their goal. This was followed by a colourful extravaganza of patriotic speeches, poems and songs in different languages to brighten the mood of everyone present.

hammad Rafi Excellence Award-2014. The competition was in conducted in two rounds. First round was held on 11th May where she was selected as best singer. The second round was held on 31st July at Tagore Theater, where more than 24 participants were present and out which Chayanika was selected third.

Investiture Ceremony

Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh, conducted an investiture ceremony to nominate students for various appointments at the school. The function began with the school shabad. The newly elected members of council were conferred with badges

and flags by the Director, Mr. D.S.Bedi. He also administered the oath to the office bearers. While congratulating, the Director encouraged them to shoulder their duties with loyalty, truth and honour. He inspired the

students to develop the qualities of leadership in themselves and stressed upon the need to assume responsibilities by each one in the interest of the school. The head boy, Guransh Singh, was handed over the school flag and head girl, Ramneet Brar, was passed on the light of knowledge with the intention to keep the flag high and the flame glowing.

Exceptional Achievement

Himanshu Gupta of class XI-A of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-A, Chandigarh has cleared the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad 2014 Exam held on February, 02, 2014. He is one among the thirty students who qualified in this exam all over India.

He is to attend a four week long camp called International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) which will be held at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mankhurd, Mumbai, from April, 21st to May 19th, 2014. During the camp, various techniques of solving mathematical problems by experts from all over India will be taught.

 

NSS Volunteers won the best contingent prize

NSS volunteer’s contingent of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh secured first position in Republic Day parade held at sector-17, Parade Ground. Contingent of 27 students was lead by the Commander Divy Gupta. All students performed enthusiastically and were elated on their achievement. Principal, Ms. Gurkiranjeet Nalwa, also congratulated students’ team work. Efforts of Mr.Rajnish, Physical Education teacher, and Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, NSS Programme Officer, were also appreciated by the principal.

Republic Day Celebration

Students and staff of Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh celebrated Republic Day with great zeal and patriotic fervour. Celebrations started with the Flag hoisting by the Principal Ms.Gurkiranjeet Nalwa and with a message to the students to serve their country in the best possible way. Students delivered speeches and sang patriotic songs. Other activities like poster making and slogan writing in the school premises to mark the importance of the day were conducted. Principal congratulated the students and gave a speech to encourage them towards a bright India’s dream.

 

 

Annual State Level Science, Environment and Mathematics Exihibition

Ishleen and Ridham of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh brought laurels by winning the first prize in Annual State Level Science, Environment and Mathematics Exihibition for children, organized by State Institute of Education, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The girls were awarded with certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 5100/-. Clearing the two rounds, the girls dou will now represent the state in the final round to be held in New Delhi on 16,17 and 18 December, 2013.

The theme of this exhibition given by NCERT was ‘Scientific and Mathematical Innovation.’ The girls under the guidance of their teacher Ms.Anuradha prepared a model on ‘Organic Farming’. In their model they exhibited the improvement in the income by rearing multiple animals on the same farm. They also emphasized on use of cow’s urine as the pesticide when it is treated with Neem leaves. The principal of the school said that the girls had really worked hard and are looking forward for the next round in New Delhi.

SPELL BEE COMPETITION

Ishleen and Ridham, +2 students of Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh brought laurels to the school by winning the final round of Spell Bee organized by Times of India in collaboration with Rayat and Bahra Group of Institutes, Mohali at Tagore Theater on 28th Nov., 2013.

Around 7,500 students participated in the preliminaries and over 800 students were selected for the final round of the competition. Spellings, vocabulary and command over English language of the students of the Tricity were tested. Showing their superiority over the language, the participants took crossword test and spelling assessment to reach to the final round of the competition. Ishleen stood first and won the cash prize of Rs.7100 and Ridham bagged third position with a cash prize of Rs.3100. According to the star of the event, Ishleen, “The competition was a good exercise of the mind.”

The main motto behind is to promote the personality development as well as to promote the health education in remote areas.This was followed by an educational visit to Anandpur Sahib, Virasat-e-Khalsa an old age home and an orphanage. ‘Rukhsat Function’ was organised by Shivalik Public School, Sector-41, Chandigarh for class XII. It was full of fun games, songs and dances. Everyone was given school mementoes. All children ware looking fabulous in varied dresses. Games of tongue twister, counting in Hindi and English and Panga (not to say yes / no) were played. ‘Shivalik contest’ was held, in which three rounds of Personality round, Self introduction round and Extempore round was held. Ms. Kyba Nanuan of Class XII, Non-Medical was declared Miss Shivalik and Mr. Arshdeep Singh of XII Non-Medical was declared Mr. Shivalik. Mr. D.S. Himanshu Gupta of Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh brought laurels to the institution by securing First position in State Level talent Search Examination (STSE) held on 18th November, 2012. He scored 164 marks out of 180 and a total of 1826 students were registered for this examination. He has been studying in this institute since 2002 and showing brilliant performance throughout.

His other achievements include his first positions in All India Entrance Examination conducted by Aakash Institute and L-BOT Tricity Examination in 2012. He has already cleared First and Second stages of Regional Mathematics Olympiad held in 2012

Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh hosted the celebrations of ‘ International Day for Biological Diversity ‘ organized by Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India on 22nd May in the school campus.

Prof. R.K. Kohli, Dean Research Punjab University and Prof. I.S.Dua ,Former professor and Chairman, Department of Botany, Punjab University Chandigarh were accorded a warm welcome by the Director of the school Mr.D.S.Bedi. Prof. R.K. Kohli gave the keynote address apprised the students with Biodiversity through a presentation. Prof. I.S. Dua shared his thoughts on the sensitive issue as well.

On the occasion a Declamation Contest on the topic ‘Factory can’t create-life change habit save habitat ‘ was held for the senior and junior categories. A poster making competition was also organized and students gave reins to their imagination. The winners were given prizes by Mr. D.S.Bedi, who appreciated their efforts

The 66th Independence Day was celebrated with gaiety and patriotic fervour in Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh. Honourable Director Mr. D.S.Bedi hoisted the National Tricolour and inspected the parade performed by the students. He motivated them to serve the nation selflessly and be committed towards the fulfilment of their duties. This was followed by an exuberant P.T. Display and a cultural programme consisting of patriotic speeches, poems and songs presented by enthusiastic students of different classes. Some of the teachers gave inspirational talk on issues befitting the occasion. The celebration ended by serving refreshments to all the students and staff members

Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh celebrated its Annual Prize Distribution and Cultural Programme on 22nd December, 2012 in the School Auditorium at Shivalik Public School, Mohali.

Sh. Dharamvir IAS, State Election Commissioner, Haryana and President Society of Promotion of Scienes and Technology of India graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and was accorded a warm welcome. The beginning of the auspicious occasion was marked by the invocation of the heavenly muses in the Vandana dance. The programme was an amalgamation of various hues and the students spread the colours of peace and happiness. Mrs. Gurkiran Nalwa, the Principal presented the Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the school and goals set up for the future. The beautiful rendition of Quawaali in the traditional attire was spell binding. Theme based dance depicting Unity in Diversity mesmerized the guests, ‘Spano fusion’, a fusion dance added colour to the festive occasion and the synchronized dance movements to the foot tapping music enthralled the audience. Mime Dance and the dance highlighting the woman as an embodiment of love, power and warmth regaled one and all. Bhangra marked a befitting finale to the colourful programme.

The chief guest Mr. Dharamvir gave away the prizes to the meritorious students both for their scholastic and co-scholastic achievements. Jasleen Daswal, the topper of commerce stream with 95% and Arshdeep Singh who topped the Non-Medical Stream with 94.8% were awarded a cash prize of Rs.5000 for their outstanding achievement. The students with a CGPA of perfect 10 were awarded a cash prize of Rs.1500/- each. The Chief Guest congratulated the students and applauded their efforts. He appreciated the management of the school and the staff for their contribution. Mr. D.S. Bedi, Director of the school proposed a vote of thanks.

The Festive look, illuminating with shinning faces, the middle section of Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh celebrated its Annual Day with many colorful cultural Programmes.

The Event was graced by the Chief Guest SHRI.R. MADHUSUDAN , GENERAL MANAGER, CANARA BANK, CHANDIGARH who showered blessings and expressed happiness for way the school has showcased the talent of the students . He received floral welcome and lighted the lamp of knowledge. The Programme commenced with the progressive report by the principal Mrs. Gurkiranjit Nalwa.

The program Started with Vandana to welcome the Guests followed by Hindi and English Group Songs , Rajasthani and Western Dance .

One should live a life full of happiness was a theme being dedicated by the Students through their “Dance of Life” and “Ashiana”. A Prayer was offered to the Almighty through Qawali. Dandia , Break Dance and Hindi Re-mix, engrossed the audience. Bhangra and Summi took the viewers closer to their motherland.

Through “Marshal Dance” students gave tribute to the Jawans of our Nation. Grand Finale stole the show with the brilliant performance of the students based on the theme and concept of communal harmony, which was lauded by one and all . Vote of thanks was delivered by our worthy Director Mr. D.S. Bedi. Prize winners were awarded for their performance in various categories.

The show left the spectators mesmerized.

Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-B, Chandigarh celebrated its Prize distribution and cultural programme on 25th December, 2012 in the school auditorium at Mohali.

Shri Upkar Singh DPI schools, Chandigarh graced the occasion as the chief guest and was accorded a warm welcome by the Director of the school, Mr.D.S. Bedi, Principal Mrs.Gurkiranjit Nalwa, staff and the students.

The function began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp of knowledge followed by Vandana. Children dressed in their colourful attires cast a magical spell on the audience. Vande Matram reflecting the national integration was applauded by all. Spanish and the fusion dance to the foot tapping music won over the hearts. Qwali in praise of the motherland highlighted the patriotic fervor of the children. School Principal Mrs. Gurkiranjit Nalwa presented the Annual report highlighting the achievements of the school and goals set up for the future.

The chief guest Sh. Upkar Singh gave away the prizes to the meritorious students both for the scholastic and the co-scholastic achievements. He congratulated the students and appreciated the management and staff of the school for their contribution. Mr.D.S.Bedi proposed a vote of thanks.

The programme ended on a happy note with Christmas and New Year Greetings.

Class XII students were given a memorable farewell at Shivalik Public School 41, Chandigarh. The outgoing batch of class XII were deeply touched by the warmth extended to them by their teachers and the wonderful programme put up by their juniors. The students showcased their talent and various dances and games were organized. Mr. and Ms. Shivalik contest was held and class XII students got an opportunity to present themselves and even face the question round. Garima won the title of Ms. Shivalik and Yuvraj was chosen Mr. Shivalik. Other titles were announced which included Ms. Elegance, Ms. Charming, Ms. Beautiful smile and Mr. & Ms. Punctual. This was followed by thanks giving by the head boy and head girl of the school. Mr. D.S.Bedi, Director gave his best wishes and motivated the students to face challenges with grit and determination. Students were given mementoes and the function concluded with a grand lunch.

Exceptional Achievement

Himanshu Gupta of class XI-A of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41-A, Chandigarh has cleared the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad 2014 Exam held on February, 02, 2014. He is one among the thirty students who qualified in this exam all over India.

He is to attend a four week long camp called International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) which will be held at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mankhurd, Mumbai, from April, 21st to May 19th, 2014. During the camp, various techniques of solving mathematical problems by experts from all over India will be taught.
