The school is one of the first institutions in the region to adopt Smart class concept. It is a technology assisted teaching aid which improves teacher effectiveness and productivity, makes learning an enjoyable experience for students and improves academic performance. It also enables instant formative assessment of learning outcomes in class. To optimize the effectiveness of concept, a Knowledge Center equipped with Content Preview System (CPS) has been established for reference by teachers. The teachers select and sift the material which is then presented to the students in form of digital instruction exactly mapped to meet with the specific objectives to fulfill the requirements of the students. The content being in the form of 3D and 2D multimedia modules is highly absorbing.

Shivalik sponsors running trophies for various sporting events including cricket, initiated into participating in races, athletics and hockey, basketball, football and volleyball. Besides games like cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, basketball and handball, students are also initiated into participating in races, athletics and gymnastics.

To meet the challenges and prepare students for the ever-evolving knowledge-based society, we keep a constant pace with the advancements in the field of Information Technology. The potential of computer- aided instruction as a medium for making teaching more interactive and learner oriented has always been an exciting matter for educational innovators.

In the 21st century, computer aided instructions is indispensable to the school curriculum and its use needs to be truly realized and optimised. The main aim of computer-aided teaching is to make optimum use of the information technology available in the field of Education, as a tool for effective teaching and learning.

The   school   has   well-equipped   computer   labs including latest software and other computer peripheral devices. The school also has a networking system that connects all workstations through cables. Equipped with independent computer labs, one each for junior and senior classes, the school ensures learning is both fun and a fulfilling experience. Under the able guidance of highly qualified and trained faculty, an easy access to the students and the teachers is provided in the multimedia computer lab. Animated visuals are shown to the students in addition to providing theoretical knowledge in the classrooms. Learning package of subject material based on the syllabii of classes III to XII is available with the school. Lessons are prepared using multimedia technology with 3D graphics, animation, sound etc. Various topics are discussed in the classes and later the students are taken for viewing these capsules, prepared as lectures. The visual clips facilitate conceptual clarity, increase interactivity and ease content assimilation.

 

Language  Lab  offers  distinct  opportunity  to  the students to learn effective communicative skills. The focus is laid on correct pronunciation, right stress and intonation. Using linguaphones and audio-aids, voice modulation is also taught. It enhances their communication skills and interest to participate in declamations, debates and group discussions

 

 

 

We have three science laboratories (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), well equipped with latest apparatus and specimens to facilitate teaching-learning of science through ‘learning by doing method'. Slidoscope, Projectors and other apparatuses are used in teaching all the intricacies of science-based topics and generate scientific temper in our budding scientists.

The school is set to build a planetarium in the near future to quench thirst for celestial knowledge

 

The school Auditorium is not only restricted to the school activities but also is made available for community services. Prominent dignitaries have been gracing the functions held in the school from time to time. 

 

     

 

This year in our school ground ASTRO-TURF has been laid for six –A side Hockey and has been imported from  U.S.A.

 

 

 

 

 

Shivalik has also an Open Air Theatre to complement the existing facilities

 

 

 

 

For Indoor games our school has state-of-the-art Gymnasium hall with an indoor Deco-turf Tennis Court, Badminton Court, Table tennis and a fully equipped fitness centre.

In near future, Shivalik is going to setup Badminton Academy and a Center for Excellence in Gymanastics for which all equipments will be imported from Germany.
